The second film in this series showcases The Hawaiʻi Blue Schools Hui supported by the Prada Sea Beyond partnership with UNESCO and their aims to strengthen students’ ocean literacy through place-based action projects that celebrate Hawaiʻi’s unique biodiversity and rich cultural legacy. Hawaiians have been harvesting fish sustainably for generations, tending traditional ponds known as loko iʻa. Today, they are not only staging a comeback, but providing a sustainable model that is gaining the attention of the global aquaculture industry. Year Four of our partnership with Prada and National Geographic, this global campaign comprises hero films, cutdowns, photo essays and billboards worldwide.

The global Blue Schools program is supported by SEA BEYOND, which is dedicated to providing young people with opportunities to learn about the ocean through direct contact and fun, educational activities. The young stewards learn to protect Hawaiʻi’s coasts, embracing indigenous values and hands-on lessons in ocean conservation and care.
